This Morning staff are "very grateful" to receive an NTA nomination in the wake of the Phillip Schofield scandal. The flagship ITV show has been nominated in the Best Daytime category, alongside The Chase, Repair Shop and Loose Women.
This comes months after Schofield, 61, left the show and admitted to an "unwise, but not illegal" affair with a much younger colleague on This Morning.
The show has faced huge criticism following the scandal, and ITV has faced allegations of a "toxic work culture" - but insiders say the nomination gives "two fingers" to critics.
Sources told The Mirror that staff are “very grateful that our viewers are supporting us.” The insider added: “We’d love to win especially for our fantastic producers and crew who have been making programmes every day despite all the troubles and unfair criticism that was thrown at a show they’re proud to work on.” Following the Scofield row, critics called for This Morning and Holly Willoughby to be axed, once news of the affair was announced.
