Five new cameras are going to be installed in Salford’s bus lanes in a clamp down on motorists driving in the wrong lane. The council raked in some £464,000 last year through bus lane penalty charge notices, after cameras in the city clocked motorists in bus lanes nearly 15,000 times.

But that figure is set to sky-rocket this year as the town hall announced plans to roll out five more cameras in the city. Documents that went before councillors in yesterday’s growth and prosperity scrutiny committee show the town hall is set to introduce cameras at: The cameras are expected to be fully operational in the next two months - bringing the total number in the borough to 10.
