Just like most people on their summer holidays, the Queen is partial to treating herself with a takeaway – and there is one she always gets while she stays in Scotland at Balmoral.

It turns out that Her Majesty is partial to a wee fish and chips and will often send out one of her footmen to grab her one when she's feeling hungry.

According to the Mirror, she'll opt for a supper, which costs around £10 from the nearby town Ballater, instead of the gourmet dishes you might expect a royal to eat.Speaking to Fabulous, a source said: “She occasionally treats herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral.“A footman is despatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”And it's not just in Scotland she eats them either, when she's back at Windsor she occasionally request the dish - all be it for one of her chefs to make it in-house.

A former chef to The Queen herself has explained the "refined" way Her Royal Highness requested fish and chips when she is back in England.Darren McGrady says instead of cooking the fish by coating it in batter and deep-frying in lard or oil, Her Majesty likes it coated in breadcrumbs and baked. He served as the Queen’s personal chef at Buckingham Palace between the 1980s to the 1990s and recalls many quirks about the royal palate.Chatting on his YouTube channel about her tastes, he said: "Fish fried in all that crispy rich batter was a little bit too much for her, she preferred a more refined fish and chips."He also told The Telegraph she cannot be described as a “foodie”, unlike her late husband Prince Phillip, who "loves to eat and would stand and talk food all day".It was also revealed that she is also partial to another Scottish favourite, Dundee cake, when she travels.
