A popular Northern Quarter pub and boutique hotel has reopened its doors after a huge £200,000 investment featuring new booth seats and a revamped bar.

The Abel Heywood, located on the junction of Turner Street and Red Lion Street, has been operating as one of the area’s best loved venues since it first opened ten years ago.

The pub just so happens to also be a firm favourite of the likes of Christopher Eccleston and Shaun Ryder too. As part of the renovations to the venue, a former textile warehouse, the existing Victorian-style décor has been updated and new signs and lighting have been added.

Operated by Salford-based brewery and pub retailer Hydes, it is the first venue this year to benefit from the chain’s investment fund to refurbish its properties.
