The Premier League has confirmed that the competition has been suspended indefinitely due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
As of 9am on April 3, there had been over 38,000 confirmed cases in the UK and the death toll exceeded 3,000, following another record-breaking day for the number of increases in a single 24-hour period.
There had been criticism directed towards football’s governing bodies for a lack of clarity on the situation but the Premier League responded with a lengthy statement - where they also announced a £20m donation to the NHS and £125m of advance funding to the EFL and National League.
