Despite a £1bn boom over a decade, almost a third of Salford's population live in 'highly deprived' areas with 10,500 people in places of 'extreme deprivation' – some of which are neighbouring those with the highest levels of growth.

Thousands of jobs have been created at MediaCityUK, The Quays and elsewhere in Salford which experienced a 12.2 pc increase in its population between 2008 and 2018 – but many local people are not feeling the benefits.
