Don't miss a thing that's happening in and around Bury by signing up to the free MyBury newsletterA businessman is warning others to be wary of scams after a ‘bogus fireman’ came into his shop and asked to carry out a safety inspection.Mike Norfolk says he told the visitor to leave after they asked for access to the back of his shop.But Mike says a neighbouring shop later paid the men £300 for a ‘fire inspection’.The incident has now been reported to Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).A GMFRS spokesperson said: “We can confirm this was not a genuine GMFRS officer.“GMFRS is working with Greater Manchester Police in regard to this incident and we urge people to please report any suspicious.
