Ben Roberts has died at the age of 70, his agent has said. The actor, who was best known for playing the role of Chief Inspector Derek Conway in The Bill, is said to have passed away on Monday, 7 June.
His agents at LCM Limited broke the news on Twitter in a statement that read: "Remembering the wonderful Ben Roberts who sadly passed away on Monday. "Best known as Chief Inspector Derek Conway in The Bill & he had an extensive career in theatre, TV & film. "Our thoughts are with his wife Helen and family at this time." Ben was born in July 1950 and rose to fame soon after landing his first TV gig in A Woman's Place, where he worked alongside Ralph Bates.
