Taxi driver seriously injured after crash with Stagecoach double-decker bus

A taxi driver was taken to hospital after a crash with a double-decker bus in Tameside. The smash happened at the junction of Henrietta Street and Albion Way in Ashton-under-Lyne at around 11.30pm last night (Sunday).

The taxi - a Renault Transit minibus - and Stagecoach bus collided, police said. Neither of the vehicles were carrying passengers at the time.

The driver of the bus is assisting officers with enquiries. Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
