Surge testing to be rolled out in Bolton as concerns grow over rising infection rates and new variants

The borough currently has the second highest rate in the country, only behind Hyndburn in Lancashire. Bolton council public health bosses have previously confirmed that cases of both the South African and Indian variants of coronavirus have been discovered in the town.

The M.E.N. understands that the council has now approached the government to ask for surge testing to be used in specific parts of Bolton.
