Strictly star reveals tear-jerking tribute to their single mum in this weekend's show

Strictly Come Dancing star Nikita Kanda has shared the emotional dedication behind her Single Ladies dance for this weekend's live show.The BBC Asian Network Breakfast Show host appeared on Wednesday's episode of spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two, where she opened up on how her performance will be a tribute to her mum, a single parent.

Nikita, 28, sat alongside her dance partner Gorka Marquez as she told of the special personal significance to her for this Saturday's performance and talked about her respect for the job her mum had done bringing up her and her sister as a single parent.

She and Gorka are set to dance a Charleston to Beyonce's hit tune Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) this weekend, but while the dance style is known for being fun, there is an emotional meaning behind it for Nikita.

She told It Takes Two viewers: "I am dedicating this one to my mum. She is the single woman in my life. She brought me and my sister up on her own. "So, this one is going out to all the single parents out there that have done everything for their kids.
