Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Alfredo Morelos will never understand being subbed after he wrapped his talisman up in cotton wool. The Rangers boss laughed as he explained why the frontman had to be withdrawn during Saturday's 2-0 win over Coventry City at Ibrox The disgruntled striker trudged straight up the tunnel after drawing a blank against the English League One champions, with goals from Joe Aribo and Connor Goldson securing victory for Gerrard's side.

Morelos appeared desperate to add to that tally but, with Jermain Defoe injured, his manager was taking no chances ahead of next week's Premiership opener against Aberdeen. "We don't a lot of options at number nine so I had to be sensible with Alfredo and get him off the pitch," Gerrard told Premier Sports.
