Senior SNP members have ridiculed a proposal that voters should be offered three options at a future referendum on Scottish independence.
Chris Hanlon, a member of the party's policy development committee, claims Scots should be asked at an IndyRef2 if they support independence, staying in the UK, or whether they want "devo max".
The third option - short for maximum devolution - has never been clearly defined but generally refers to handing more powers to Holyrood in exchange for Scotland retaining its place in the Union.
Former SNP leader Alex Salmond talked up the possibility of devo max being on the ballot paper ahead of the 2014 referendum but ultimately decided a straight Yes/No question was preferable.
