Shop left wrecked after raiders 'try to tow away the cash machine'

The drama unfolded at the McColl's shop on Kenyon Lane in Middleton in the early hours of this morning. The alarm was raised after shutters were cut with and people managed to get inside shortly after 5am. READ MORE: The Manchester Evening News understands two people entered the shop and tied metal chains around the cash machine before a waiting vehicle tried to tow it away.

The attempt was unsuccessful and they left empty-handed though the shop was left ransacked inside causing damage believed to be worth thousands of pounds.
