Night porter Christopher O’Malley placed hot ash in a plastic bag which he then left in a cupboard - starting the fire.The hotel's management had previously been given strong warnings from the fire service about this practice.
Although expressing remorse through their lawyer at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday, the board of directors have since went quiet.
