Seven-year-old child dies of coronavirus as UK death toll surpasses 35,000

A seven-year-old child is among those to have sadly died after testing positive for coronavirus. The number of people who have died after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has risen to 35,023.

The death toll is up by at least 227 from 34,796 at the same point yesterday. The total testing figures have not yet been released by the Department of Health at the time of writing.

NHS England has announced 174 new deaths of people who tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 24,913.

The 174 victims were aged between seven and 102 with six having no known underlying health condition. Those victims were aged between 45 and 90.
