Queen Elizabeth II is wearing a brooch with a beautiful, sentimental meaning in her final portrait. Ahead of the Queen's funeral, Buckingham Palace released a previously unseen photograph of the Queen that was taken in May before her Platinum Jubilee.

An official statement read: "Ahead of Her Majesty The Queen’s State Funeral, a new photograph has been released. "The photo was taken to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee - the first British Monarch to reach this milestone. "Tomorrow, millions will come together to commemorate her remarkable life." In the portrait, the late Queen can be seen smiling while wearing a blue dress, three pearl necklaces and pearl earrings.

Sporting her signature white curls, she can also be seen wearing aquamarine and diamond clip brooches. While the Queen certainly looks beautiful gorgeous in her dress and jewellery, her brooches are the items that have a sentimental meaning as they were a gift from her father King George VI.The King gave Queen Elizabeth II the present for her 18th birthday in 1944.

The pieces were made from from baguette, oval and round diamonds and aquamarines by Boucheron. The Queen has worn the special presents on many occasions, including her Diamond Jubilee televised speech in 2012 and the 75th anniversary of VE Day in 2020.
