Scottish Government confirms one death and 309 new Covid cases in Tayside

The Scottish Government has confirmed one coronavirus death was reported in Tayside in the last 24 hours. The area's death toll - composed of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - rises to 826.

Data from Public Health Scotland also shows that 309 new cases were recorded overnight in the region. In total, Tayside has recorded 78,975 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.

The latest local vaccination data shows that 91.2% of people across Tayside have had at least one jag, 85.9% have received at least two, while 68.7% have also received a third, or booster, vaccination.Across the country, 7,258 new positive cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the last day.There were 16 Covid-confirmed deaths reported meaning the country's overall death toll from the virus rises to 10,291.There are currently 1,302 people in Scotland's hospitals being treated for covid with 32 in intensive care.DundeeLive brings you the latest headlines from Dundee and beyond.But did you know you all the ways you can stay informed with us?You can get our top stories sent straight to your inbox with our daily news updates.
