Scots binmen fed up of rat attacks send message to council with giant inflatable rodent

Glasgow City Council was blasted as "stupid" by the local authority - which accused a union of regularly missing meetings. Three binmen have been attacked by rats since the start of the year - on two occasions in Dennistoun in July, and in Drumchapel, in January.

Union GMB has threatened industrial action due to the rat attacks - and brought a giant inflatable rodent, named Cludgie, to the Kelvinhall Depot, in the West End, to launch a 'rat register' where the public can log rodent sightings.

The stunt yesterday was blasted by council chiefs who accused the union of "fake" concern and "routinely missing meetings".Scotland's largest city is thought to have the fourth biggest rat population in the UK.The council has said it deals with.
