A wind weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for western Scotland. The rest of Scotland faces a dark and stormy day in stark contrast to last weekend's sunshine and cloudless weather.
In force from 6am to 11am today, the Met Office warned of severe gales up to 70mph moving quickly across the Western Isles on Wednesday morning.
For those in eastern Scotland, the forecaster said clouds will come and go through the day.The strongest winds and outbreaks of rain will be in western Scotland today.Wet weather is forecasted for the west of Scotland, including Glasgow, as an undercut of cold air will allow snow to form in areas above 300 metres.Temperatures will range from 6C in Stornoway, 7C in Glasgow, 10C in Aberdeen and 11C in Edinburgh.Met Office forecaster Clare Nasir said: "Windy on Wednesday with gales towards the north west and also some heavy rain.
Dry skies towards the south and the east."She continued: "We could see severe gales for a time as the strongest winds extend to the far north of Scotland.
