Scotland issued 'danger to life' weather warning as heavy rain to sweep country

forecasters as heavy rain threatens to cause chaos across Scotland during a 36-hour period. Experts are anticipating heavy rain showers to descend on southern parts of the country from midnight on Tuesday to midday on Wednesday.

Strathclyde, south west Scotland, the Lothians and the Borders could be the worst impacted - with around 50mm of rain anticipated for some parts.

Around 10cm of snow could also blanket this area during the period of adverse conditions. The Met Office has urged people to prepare for flooding and delays to public transport services throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.
