Runners have been left confused by 'bizarre' parkrun rules following the Queen's death. Organisers have posted a list of requirements for this weekend's event in Heaton Park, which include keeping announcements to a minimum, wearing appropriate colours and not celebrating any milestones or birthdays.
The notice read: "At this week’s event, Announcements will be kept to a minimum and we would encourage park runners to wear colours that are appropriate to the event. "We will not be using our usual celebratory and pacing bibs.
If you are achieving a milestone run or birthday this week, please feel free to wear the appropriate bib the next time you are at Heaton parkrun and we will happily acknowledge your achievement on that occasion.
For more information please see our news page." But runners were less than impressed. One replied: "Dress all in black, don't smile, don't talk to anyone one else.
