Rangers supporters' celebrations has reached nearly £60,000. Thousands of fans descended on the square in the aftermath of their club clinching the Scottish Premiership trophy on May 15.
But taxpayers have been left with a £58,000 bill to cover costs for the destruction of memorial benches, damage to statues, and cleaning up rubbish and thousands of broken bottles which were left strewn across the ground.
Fans also damaged traffic lights, scaffolding, security fencing and historic statues including memorials to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert which have been left needing significant repairs.The Queen Victoria statue failed a 'topple test' meaning it is moving on its plinth and will have to be fenced off while emergency work is carried.
