Gordon Smith has opened up on his radical plan to revolutionise Scottish football with the introduction top-flight reserve teams to the lower leagues.His 2009 pitch was rejected by lower league clubs when it was decided that introducing youth sides would take the focus away from smaller clubs.The former Rangers director of football is adamant his blueprint could hold the answer to some of the problems facing the game today, with the introduction of Colt teams still thought to be high on Rangers and Celtic's agenda.While Scottish football now operates under the umbrella of one league body, at the time there were two - the SPL that managed the top teams and the SFL for the second tier and below.
