Quibi won its first Emmy awards on Thursday evening, picking up two trophies in the short-form acting categories. The mobile video startup led the short-form categories in nominations heading into the four-day Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
It picked up 10 nods across multiple categories. Quibi’s wins came for the same show, Antoine Fuqua-produced drama #FreeRayshawn, about a Black Iraq war veteran who must talk his way out of a showdown with a New Orleans SWAT team.
Lauren Fishburne, who stars Lt. Steven Poincy, took home the Emmy for best actor in a short form comedy or drama series, and Jasmine Cephas Jones won the Emmy for best actress in a short form comedy or drama series.
