Queen Elizabeth II, who turned 96 years old this past April, has tragically passed away, the royal family confirmed.
News of her death comes just after the Palace confirmed her health was “concerning” and members of the royal family had rushed to her side as she rested at Balmoral in Scotland. Click inside to read the Palace’s statement… “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the Palace announced on Twitter. “Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” the palace released in a statement earlier in the day on Thursday (September 8). “The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.” Queen Elizabeth took the throne in 1952 after the death of her father, King George VI.
The Queen ruled longer than any other Monarch in British history. She leaves behind her children Prince Charles, who will be the next King, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Prince Andrew.
