Thirteen puppies were found in 'filthy conditions' after being smuggled over to Scotland from Ireland. The Scottish SPCA recovered the animals as they were being brought into Cairnryan in Dumfries and Galloway at the weekend.Officers discovered various breeds, all a few weeks old, being held in "horrendous circumstances" and in “poor body condition”.Two of the pups had to be rushed for emergency vet treatment, with one later dying and the other still recovering.The dogs are receiving urgent vet treatment and round-the-clock care at a Scottish SPCA animal rescue and rehoming centre.SSPCA chiefs now fear illegal puppy trading will be ramping up after a brief respite during the coronavirus lockdown across the UK and Ireland.Chief
