A Scots Barclays bank has been targeted by Pro-Palestine protesters in Edinburgh. Images posted on social media show red paint splattered across the front of the Princes Street building, with graffiti daubed on the wall saying 'drop Elbit.'Palestine Action has claimed responsibility for the incident at the entrance to branch on Thursday, September 12.It was one of 10 Barclays premises across the UK hit by the group due to their links with Elbit System, an Israel-based military contractor in which Pro-Palestine groups claim Barclays bank have financial interests. However, Barclays say they have not invested in Elbit Systems and appear as shareholders due to 'client driven transactions'.A spokesperson for the bank said: "It is not true that we have made a decision to invest in Elbit.

We may hold shares in relation to client driven transactions, which is why we appear on the share register, but we are not investors."We note also that Elbit is highlighted because campaigners claim it makes cluster bombs.

We would cease any relationship with any business where we saw evidence that it manufactures cluster bombs or components."Posting on X, Palestine Action said: "Palestine Action target over 10 Barclays sites across the country, from management centres to local branches."The bank continues to invest in Israel's biggest weapons producer, Elbit Systems — our primary target."Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. You'll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team. All you have to do is click here if you're on mobile, select 'Join Community'
