Police swooped on Whalley Range in south Manchester following reports of gunshots near a chicken shop. Shots were said to have been heard near Chicken Run on Yarburgh Street on Wednesday evening.

Police went to the scene but there were no early reports that anyone had been hit. An investigation is continuing. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers responded to reports that there had been 'shots heard' in the area.

He added that there was subsequently a number of officers there and 'police activity' was continuing. Crime has fallen during lockdown but GMP has been using it to take serious gangsters off the streets.
