Police launch wildlife crime probe at bus tycoon's estate following blaze

Police are carrying out a wildife crime investigation following last month’s demolition and fire at Glassingall House on Stagecoach tycoon Dame Ann Gloag’s estate near Dunblane.A Stirling Council probe into the June 11 and 12 incident is also currently underway as no building warrant for the work had been sought.It is thought that bats, a protected species, had been roosting in Glassingall House.Dame Ann is donating Glassingall Estate land to Active Stirling for a proposed outward bound centre with 135 chalets.

A proposal of application notice (PAN) for the scheme was submitted last summer.A police spokesperson told the Observer this week: “Police Scotland can confirm that enquiries are ongoing into wildlife offences at the Glassingall.
