A large cordon has been place on Oldfield Road since the body of a woman was discovered at around 6am this morning (Tuesday).
She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Enquiries are ongoing and this morning, crime scene investigators are carrying out specialist work at the scene.
A cordon is in place on Oldfield Road, which stretches to either side of Seamon's Moss Bridge and over to Seamon's Road. The bridge runs over the Bridgewater Canal.
