Plastic Fantastic: Recycled Sculptures

Japanese artist Sayaka Ganz uses recycled plastic pieces for art sculptures. She says she uses household plastic items to create beautiful animal forms that give a sense of movement. “When first encountering my art I want my viewers to see an animal in motion such as horses galloping out from a gallery wall, or dolphins swimming above, or polar bear family diving for fish,” Sayaka tells us. “I want to share the imagination of what it might feel like to gallop like a horse and feel the wind going through my mane, or to swim like a dolphin and feel the water and sunlight against my fins.” The artist adds that her current working material of choice is recycled plastic because she can easily manipulate the plastic to create 3D art.
