Plans lodged to build observatory in Scots country park

A new project at Mugdock Country Park near Strathblane is still aiming for the stars.The Astronomical Society of Glasgow is planning to create a new single-storey observatory building in the park thanks to the legacy of a late past-president.The Eric Tomney Memorial Observatory will fulfil a wish by the amateur society to have its own facility.A detailed planning application has been lodged with Stirling Council planners for the proposal for the small observatory station and dome.ASG had previously received full planning permission on the same site for a larger scheme, however permission has since expired and they now want a smaller design.In a submission to council planners, architects for the scheme Collective Architecture said: “The ASG
