Plans announced to turn Outlander's Lallybroch Midhope Castle into whisky distillery

Midhope Castle, the 16th century townhouse that currently doubles as Outlander's Lallybroch. Former Diageo director Ken Robertson, and the owners of popular whisky bottler have revealed plans to build a new distillery on the site at Hopetoun Estate in Queensferry.

Used as an exterior film setting during both Season 1 and 2 of the hit show, the actual site that is used to represent Broch Tuarach (north-facing tower in Gaelic) is a 16th-century ruin that lies just 30 miles outside of Edinburgh.

A popular visitor attraction, it could soon be given a new lease of life after Robertson, a director of the newly formed Midhope Castle Distillery Company, submitted a planning application to West Lothian Council for the building next to the ruin,.
