Zack Sharf Anna Faris revealed on the latest episode of her “Unqualified” podcast that director Ivan Reitman slapped her butt on the set of their 2006 action-comedy “My Super Ex-Girlfriend.” According to Faris, the late director also yelled at her in front of the crew on the first day of filming after she showed up late to set because of an accident. The actor said she was left “angry and hurt and humiliated” by Reitman, who directed with a “reign of terror.” “One of my hardest film experiences was with Ivan Reitman,” Faris told her “Unqualified” guest Lena Dunham. “I mean, the idea of attempting to make a comedy under this, like, reign of terror, he was a yeller. He would bring down somebody every day…and my first day, it was me.”

In “Catherine, Called Birdy,” which won rave reviews at Toronto International Film Festival last month, Ramsey plays 14-year-old Birdy, who is coming of age in medieval England where her fate is to be married off to any of the potential suitors her father has in mind – Birdy, meanwhile, has other ideas. Joe Alwyn and Andrew Scott also star in the film, which recently hit Prime Video following a theatrical release. Ramsey also appeared in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” as Lyanna Mormont, the head of the House of Mormont following her mother’s death and the first to declare Jon Snow king of the North during the gathering of the lords at Winterfell.

EXCLUSIVE: The Bear actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach has joined Jennifer Lawrence in Sony Pictures’ R-rated comedy, No Hard Feelings, from filmmaker Gene Stupnitsky.

K.J. Yossman MetFilm is expanding into distribution with the acquisition of U.K. distribution company Republic Film Distribution (“Brittany Runs a Marathon”). Republic, which is run by former Icon Films exec Zak Brilliant, will be re-branded as MetFilm Distribution. Brilliant will take on the role of head of MetFilm distribution and MetFilm sales, working with the existing sales team, comprised of Mitch Clare, Jenny Bohnhoff and Ella Pham. The company is already planning to increase its headcount. MetFilm Distribution will aim to release six to eight titles annually. The films they take on will have a strong theatrical focus, starting with November’s “A Bunch of Amateurs” by Kim Hopkins, which won the Sheffield DocFest audience award.

MetFilm has acquired Republic Film Distribution, the UK distribution company run by former Icon Films executive Zak Brilliant.

In many ways, movies — and YA movies in particular — double as a kind of socializing tool, encouraging audiences to be independent thinkers (on their surface) while in fact giving them the keys for conformity: Follow the rules, respect your elders, marry the right guy, and you’ll be rewarded with your happily ever after, they say. But that’s not independence; that’s indoctrination. Adapted from Katherine Cushman’s 1994 novel, “Catherine Called Birdy” is a genially impertinent feature-length celebration of not always doing what you’re told. Set in 1290, at a time of infrequent baths and early-40s life expectancy, Dunham’s comedic take follows the creative schemes 14-year-Lady Catherine (Bella Ramsey) devises to avoid being married off by her father, Lord Rollo (Andrew Scott), to the first scraggly beard that comes along. “Your villagers are allowed to marry where they will, but your daughter is sold like a cheese for your profit!” she scoffs in the book. Here, she’s got even more attitude, a 21st-century spirit trapped in a girl’s body.
