The show, however, took a bit of a different approach. Instead of being told from both points of view, the Hulu drama is told strictly from Lucy’s (Grace Van Patten), as she falls for manipulative Stephen (Jackson White). The other difference is that the leading man is a less controlling than in the book — he’s toxic and abusive, Oppenheimer admits, but they had to find a way to make him likable.

Either way, the sleek frames are a timeless style that look just as good on a Venetian red carpet as they do in the supermarket. Danes joins recently announced star Zazie Beetz, though character details for both remain under wraps. Danes had her breakout role in the ABC teen drama “My So-Called Life,” winning a Golden Globe in 1994 and an Emmy in 1995, before going on play Juliet in Baz Luhrmann’s Leonardo DiCaprio-led adaptation of “Romeo and Juliet” in 1996. In 2002, she starred alongside Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore in the drama film “The Hours,” and she won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for playing the title role in the TV movie “Temple Grandin” in 2010. Next, she led the Showtime drama “Homeland” as Carrie Mathison from 2011 to 2020, over the years earning two wins and three nominations at the Emmys plus two wins and one nomination at the Golden Globes. Well, fans are getting the Byrds history they’ve always dreamed of with BMG Books’ stunning “The Byrds: 1964-67” — out Sept. 20 — which is a comprehensive oral history and a gorgeous coffee-table photo book all in one: The editors basically licensed virtually every known photo of the group from the era, sat down with surviving founding members Roger McGuinn, David Crosby and Chris Hillman and got them to share their memories of the moments, the band, the era, each other and lots more. (The book follows the group as it gradually goes from a quintet to a quartet to a trio, and leaves off before Gram Parsons’ arrival in 1968, which launched a whole new chapter of the Byrds.)
