Sign up to the MySalford newsletter and don't miss a thing happening in and around the cityA new site has been selected for a special educational needs school, specifically for students with autism, emotional and behavioural disorders in Salford.The Acorn Academy, which will be a secondary school with 50 places, is set to open next year at the former All Souls RC Primary School site in Weaste.The 'free school' will be run by the Eccles-based Kings Academy Trust.The former St Luke’s Primary School was previously proposed as the new school's site, but refurbishing the building is now said to be 'unfeasible'.The site is also not ideal for use as a special school given its proximity to main roads and the Metrolink tramway, according to a report.
