New Paramount+ show filming on Ayrshire beach could showcase region on international stage

Major TV productions showcasing North Ayrshire's coastline on an international stage could have huge benefits for the region's economy.

That's the view of councillor Tony Gurney as filming at Irvine beach wrapped on a new major crime drama.TV crews took over Irvine beach for a day earlier this month to shoot scenes for a brand new Paramount+ show.

And a talent agency's social media request for a woman to perform CPR at Irvine beach on the day of filming perhaps gives a glimpse at the sort of high drama that was filmed at the beauty spot.Vans and huge units set up camp at the beach park just off Marine Drive for the filming of new crime series 'The Chemistry of Death' based on Simon Beckett's 2006 novel of the same name.Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for economy and climate change, said it was important to let everyone know that North Ayrshire was open for business.Cllr Gurney added: “North Ayrshire is renowned for its stunning coastline and natural beauty – it’s a real point of pride for all of us who grew up here.“It’s always pleasing to see others also recognise the magnificence of our natural resources, whether that’s film companies or day visitors.“At a time when we all face the cost-of-living crisis, it’s important for us to make clear that North Ayrshire is open for business.“We want to allow our assets to flourish, benefiting both our coastal communities and economy.

Showcasing North Ayrshire on the international stage can only benefit that and we were happy to facilitate the filming which took place at Irvine beach for what is clearly a major production.
