Mum told she must accept solar panels on council home or go back on waiting list

A single mum has been told that she has to accept solar panels on the roof of her council house or be put back onto the waiting list.

Brittany Haughton, 26, has turned the panels off and demanded their removal, because she was 'still paying through the roof for electricity' and 'doesn't see the point' in them.

But Brittany, who has autism and has a daughter with 'special needs', is locked in a 25-year-contract with the Community Energy Scheme (CES), Stoke-on-Trent Live reports. She says she had to accept a city council property with solar panels - or go back on the waiting list. The mum-of-two told Stoke-on-Trent Live : “The panels were not saving me any money.
