Motherwell hero Blair Spittal has agreed a pre-contract with Hearts when his deal at Fir Park expires in the summer. The 28-year-old midfielder will join the Tynecastle giants on a three-year deal.Spittal has been a real hero at Fir Park this season and is joint top scorer with Theo Bair on 11 goals in what has been a highly impressive campaign.Hearts have moved swiftly to snap up some Premiership talent, with Ross County’s Yan Dhanda and James Penrice of Livingston agreeing similar deals. With the club sitting third in the Premiership, the lure of Europe is there, while two of the three are currently battling relegation with their clubs.Spittal joined the Fir Park club from Ross County in 2022 and boss Stuart Kettlewell was keen to keep hold of him.He said last month: “We want to keep our best players at the club and we try to be as proactive as we possibly can be in that, but the one bit that I allude to, that I think people forget, is that we need all parties to be in that.“Blair has been great, there have been a couple of conversations, if we specify with him.

He’s loving his football.“There has been a bit of change in his life with having his first child and stuff like that, and I think he has handled all of that tremendously well, but how much more blatant can you make it?“You’re looking at one of the top performers in the league, in my opinion – and again, people would shoot me down for that – but of course we want to keep him at Motherwell, that goes without saying.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
