Moment fire breaks out at Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant as Russia bombards it - how dangerous is the threat?

In the early hours of Friday morning a fire broke out in a training building outside the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, according to Ukrainian authorities.

The first report of a fire came from an employee at the plant who claimed Russian forces had opened fired on the facility and there was "a real threat of nuclear danger at the largest nuclear power plant".

The report was confirmed by Ukraine's foreign minister at 2.30am who tweeted that the Russian army was "firing from all sides upon Zaporizhzhia NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.

Fire has already broke out." He has now called for an immediate ceasefire in order to allow firefighters to put out the fire outbreak.
