The weather in the UK has seen temperatures reach record highs in some parts of the country this week. On Tuesday, the Met Office announced that for the first time ever in England temperatures went above the 40 Celsius mark, with Heathrow seeing a high of 40.2C.

The Met Office has warned of thunderstorms following the high temperatures after temperatures in the country were hotter than tropical destinations such as Jamaica and Barbados.

While there has been a break from the extremely hot temperatures, experts have warned that it’s not over yet and once the thunderstorms are cleared, the hot weather will be back.

The Met Office's 10-day forecast predicts storms in parts on Friday, before warmer air moves in on Saturday and Sunday. Highs of 31C are expected across the South East by Sunday, as the weekend ends on a sunny high.
