Everyone under the age of 18 has been banned from entering a McDonald's after 5pm. The fast food restaurant chain has confirmed that all under 18s will be turned away after 5pm if they are not accompanied by an adult.

McDonald's says it made the decision following a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour in the area and employees being "subjected to verbal and physical abuse".

The ban was put in place in McDonald's on Church St in Liverpool. The decision to impose the restrictions is currently temporary, with one person telling the ECHO about the chaotic scenes as the security guards are forced to turn away customers.

They said: "As I was leaving the security guard stopped a man he believed to be a teenager and told him they weren't allowing people under 18 into the restaurant after 5pm without an adult with them." "I was in town the night before and there were large groups of kids all over Liverpool One and they were moved on a number of times by security near the cinema and in Chavasse Park." A McDonald's spokesperson said: "Over recent weeks, we have seen an increase in the number of incidents of anti-social behaviour in the area with our people being subjected to verbal and physical abuse.
