Man 'lucky to be alive' after being brutally attacked on his way to work

Detectives say the victim, a 37-year-old man, is 'lucky to be alive' following the brutal assault on Sunday morning (April 4).

Officers were called to Ferndale, in Skelmersdale, near Wigan, at about 7.30am following a report a man had been found with serious injuries.

Police believe the attack may have taken place at nearby Firbeck. The victim was taken to Aintree Hospital where police say he remains in a 'very serious condition'.
