The Channel 4 documentary, The World’s Biggest Cruise ship, set to air at 8pm on Sunday 18 August follows the build of the almost quarter of a mile long ship which took 7 years and cost nearly $2 million to build.
Although the ship provides a luxury experience for guests around the Caribbean, it was rocked with sadness when a passenger sadly died after jumping overboard on the ship, after it set sail from Florida.The tragic incident came just months after the ship, which holds 5,000 guests, made its maiden voyage in January 2024.
On the first night of its week long voyage, in May 2024, the male passenger jumped from the 20 deck high Royal Caribbean’s new 1,200-foot-long Icon of the Seas soon after it left Florida for Honduras.
The Coast Guard, told the New York Post that “the cruise ship deployed one of their rescue boats, located the man, and brought him back aboard”.
