M8 in West Lothian to see partial closure while resurfacing work goes ahead

Part of the M8 in West Lothian will be closed next week to allow for resurfacing work.BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 420 metres of the westbound hard shoulder of the M8 between Junctions 3A and 4 on the night of Wednesday, June 1.For the safety of workers and road users, the westbound carriageway of the M8 will be closed from Junction 3A to Junction 4 between 8.30pm and 6am.A signed diversion route will direct westbound traffic from Junction 3A to Junction 4 via the A779, A7066 and A801.

This diversion will add approximately 5 minutes and 1.3 miles to affected journeys.Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “An overnight carriageway closure is essential for safety, however we will do all we can to complete the works as quickly as possible and thank motorists in advance for their patience.”Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse weather.Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org, Twitter at @trafficscotland or on the mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
