'Lovely' mechanic dies after taking drugs and alcohol - he'd been assaulted hours earlier

A mechanic who was involved in a crash and later assaulted died after taking drugs and alcohol. On January 7 Leon Faulkner was involved in a "minor traffic collision", police coroner's officer Stefan Wilson told Bolton Coroner's Court.

Later the same day, the 36-year-old was assaulted. When he returned to his home in Forester Hill Avenue, Great Lever, he drank alcohol and took a number of drugs including heroin and cocaine.

After becoming unresponsive, paramedics took him to Royal Bolton Hospital, and he was pronounced dead at 5.01pm. Following a toxicity report, Mr Faulkner's cause of death has been recorded as: "1a heroin, cocaine, alcohol, benzodiazepine and pregabalin toxicity."
