Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Liz Truss has appointed her new Cabinet after taking over from Boris Johnson as Prime Minister - and her pals have secured all the top jobs.The new PM has axed the Rishi Sunak supporters around the top table and replaced them with right-wing loyalists who backed her in the leadership contest.Her top team is meeting this morning to consider a plan to freeze energy bills in order to save households and businesses from financial ruin.Former big hitters in the Cabinet under Boris Johnson are now gone such as Dominic Raab, Grant Shapps and Steve Barclay, and have been replaced by pal Therese Coffey, Kwasi Kwarteng and Suella Braverman.A number of MPs were sacked however a few jumped before being pushed after Truss got the keys to Number 10 Downing Street yesterday.

Many outgoing ministers wished Truss well in her new role however the wife of now former Veterans Minister Johnny Mercer branded her an "imbecile" after she sacked him.

He lashed out at her for "rewarding her supporters".Deputy Prime Minister Therese Coffey said Truss recognised the need to "hit the ground running", with the energy plan expected to be announced in Parliament this week.Truss will face her first Prime Minister's Questions at noon after the meeting of a Cabinet which has been packed with allies.
