Leaders react to COP26 as India and China feel heat for 'watering down' coal pledges

Leaders from across the world have expressed their disappointment at the deal signed at COP26 in Glasgow. The United Nations summit came to a close last night after a dramatic final meeting at the SEC on the River Clyde where India and China watered down the wording on phasing out coal production.COP president Alok Sharma was reduced to tears after the agreement was signed by more than 190 countries, however earlier today he revealed his frustrations over some of the discussions.

He told Sky News' Trevor Phillips On Sunday programme: "On the issue of coal, I should point out that for the very first time in any of these conferences, the word 'coal' is actually reflected in the text.
