Jazz icon Annie Ross discusses her life and tells why she'd do it all again

ANNIE ROSS has been described as many things.She was once the “Scottish Shirley Temple”. She became a jazz legend. In between, she was a wife, mother and heroin addict.

At heart, however, Annie is a survivor.Now 81, her hair is still red and she is still singing, performing every Tuesday in New York.

Getting here, to this point, has been quite a trip.She tells her story in the film Annie Ross: No One But Me, which is to be screened as part of BBC Scotland’s Artworks series.Seeing her life laid bare, she is sure of one thing – she has no regrets, just pride that she has endured.Annie said: “I was approached about doing it and I said yes but it didn’t feel like I was making a record of my life.
